Balance and Harmony: The Essence of Natural Beauty
In every culture, facial balance is recognized as a facet of natural beauty and attraction. If you believe your nose size or shape is out of balance with your other features, you’ll want an expert facial plastic surgeon to perform the alterations to the structure so the results bring you joy and confidence in all the years ahead.
What is the Procedure?
Rhinoplasty is usually performed under general anesthesia. Once you’re sedated, incisions are made through which the restructuring can be performed.
An open rhinoplasty involves placing an incision at the base of the columella (the strip of tissue between the nostrils). For minor changes, a closed rhinoplasty can be performed with the incisions inside the nostrils, with no visible scars.
However, even with the open rhinoplasty approach, the scar is tiny and hidden beneath the nose structure and virtually invisible once healed. Your custom surgical plan may involve removing excess cartilage and bone or grafting cartilage to build up a nose bridge. Once the structure is corrected (which could include septoplasty to straighten the inner structure for healthy breathing) the incisions are closed, the nose is bandaged, and the surgery is complete.
Your Aftercare Experience: Recovery at Home
The length of the surgery varies but is typically several hours. When you awaken from surgery, you will be released to return home to rest, under the care of another adult. You will have pain medication to keep you comfortable. Dr. Shah and his team provide comprehensive aftercare and will be monitoring every step of your recovery, and you will have several in-office follow-up appointments.
