Is RF Microneedling Easier Than it Sounds?

RF microneedling is a quick, easy, minimally invasive treatment. The procedure takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes to perform.

  • Your skin is cleaned with alcohol to reduce the risk of infection.
  • A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and allowed to sit for about 15 minutes, so you feel minimal discomfort.
  • The RF microneedling device is used to make tiny puncture wounds in the skin, while radiofrequency waves are simultaneously delivered into the wounds through the tip of the needle.
  • Solutions are applied to your skin to support cell regeneration and minimize discomfort.

Sit Back and Watch the Magic Happen

Immediately after RF microneedling, you may return to work or normal activities. However, you may have visible prick marks in the treatment area. We will provide you with aftercare instructions during your visit.

You may be asked to:

  • Not wear makeup for 24 hours following treatment
  • Wear sunscreen for several weeks after treatment
  • Use a gentle cleanser
  • Apply ice packs to reduce swelling and minimize discomfort

How soon will I see results with RF microneedling?

Results will appear in approximately 3 to 6 months after treatment, depending on the severity of the condition. You will likely need a series of three or more treatment sessions spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart to give your skin time to heal. A touch-up session once a year is recommended to help you maintain your results.

What skin issues can RF microneedling treat?

Microneedling with radiofrequency energy is an effective treatment to rejuvenate the skin. It can improve the look of the skin, reduce wrinkles around the eyes, reduce loose facial skin, reduce pore size, and improve skin texture. In addition, this treatment stimulates the body’s natural collagen production.

How does RF microneedling work?

Like all microneedling procedures, this treatment creates multiple micro injuries in the skin. This triggers the body’s natural healing response, stimulates collagen production, and causes the release of growth factors. With the added technology of flow needles that deliver radiofrequency energy into the dermis, the deeper layer of skin is heated, which tightens tissues and encourages collagen growth. More collagen means tighter, younger-looking skin. Microneedling also helps break down scar tissue mechanically.

How effective is RF microneedling?

Microneedling with radiofrequency energy can effectively treat signs of aging and other skin defects on the face and in other areas with minimal risk and downtime. It is a good treatment option for wrinkles, lip lines, acne and other depressed scars, stretch marks, skin tightening, and resurfacing. This treatment is “color blind” and safe to use with darker skin types. It can be used with greater safety to address problems that would otherwise require aggressive peel or laser resurfacing. RF microneedling can be combined with other treatments, including resurfacing lasers and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections.
